1.Mercedes Lackey ~ Last Herald Mage Trilogy. I'm writing this review after reading Lawrence Watt-Evan's humorous commentary of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series and in The Turtle Moves! He refers to a type of book within the fantasy genre referred to as “magic pony,” which the moment I read had me cracking up. Mercedes Lackey ~ Magic's Pawn. She knows her audience and she can tell them the same basic stories in slightly different settings as many time as she wants The other Herald-Mages show up and are pissed at Vanyel, who is slowly being killed by the Gate, because they like Tylendel better than him and don't want to be mad at Tylendel for what he has done. You should really read something good, like the Last Herald Mage Trilogy (Magic's Pawn, Magic's Promise, Magic's Price). "This first book of the Last Herald Mage Trilogy was first brought to my attention by my on-line friend Pat Nelson Childs who says Lackey's work was influential in his gay-themed fantasy series The Chronicles of Firma. In his description “magic pony” . Now normally I would consider a Mercedes Lackey novel to be low-hanging fruit.
